Why Santa Claus, The Elves And Reindeer Wear Jingle Bells

Posted by Santa Claus - October 19th, 2008

As you know, the elves and reindeer love to play Christmas jokes on each other and on me, Santa Claus.  Well, one day, Rudolph was having a great, big nap after playing reindeer games with all his reindeer friends.  Clumsy the Elf was carrying a box full of shiny new Christmas bells and tripped right in front of Rudolph.  But Rudolph was so tired he didn’t even wake up!

All the elves came running.  They wanted to see what had made so much noise.  After all, a box of shiny new Christmas bells makes a LOT of noise!  They all started to laugh.  Rudolph had slept through all the noise, Noise, NOISE! …  And was still sleeping! Ho! Ho! Ho!

Then they got an idea. An awful idea. Those silly elves got a wonderful, awful idea.  Some elves ran and got lots of Christmas ribbon.  Then they carefully tied some Christmas jingle bells onto Rudolph’s antlers.   Next they tied some bells onto his feet.  And onto his tail.  And even onto his nose!  Those silly elves kept tying on bells.  Poor Rudolph looked like he was wearing jingle bell clothes!  But Rudolph was having a really good sleep.  He didn’t wake up at all!

Then Clumsy the Elf tickled Rudolph’s nose.  But Rudolph didn’t wake up.  So Clumsy the Elf tickled some more.  Clumsy was tickling so hard he fell right on top of Rudolph!

Now that woke up Rudolph!  Rudolph jumped up.  But all he could hear was jingle bells!  So Rudolph started to run and fly all around the reindeer barn.  But the more he ran and the more he flew, the more noise the jingle bells made!  So he shook his antlers.  He shookhis feet.  He shookhis tail.  He even shook his nose.  Now it was the elves that looked like they were wearing jingle bell clothes!

When I came in to see why there arose such a clatter, I could not believe what was the matter!  There were jingle bells everywhere!  There were bells on reindeer!  There were bells on elves.  There were bells on my sleigh!  There were bells on me too!  Well, I just had to pick up some jingle bells and play with them too!  We all had a lot of fun laughing and playing with the jingle bells.

And that is why the reindeer, elves and I always have jingle bells!  Isn’t that silly?

Merry Christmas!
